Jewellery

Sally Brumwell

Sally works with polymer clay and PMC (precious metal clay)

Sally likes the adventure of creating with these mediums as they come in an array of colours, and can be carved, textured, stamped and moulded. “It would seem the sky is the limit, being able to mix just about any colour you desire and taking it any direction you want. It can simulate bone, ivory, wood, leather, fabric, metal, raku, and semi precious stones.”

Kristi Eby

Kristi’s intricate jewellery and gifts are made with sterling silver wire.

She is a self taught, and a busy Mom. Kristi takes great pride in the precision and the quality of each piece. “I do not use a jig but use only pliers, and sometimes a tape measure to cut the right length. I guarantee each piece; I want people to enjoy their jewellery for years.”

Joey Fedoruk

Joey’s jewellery designs are contemporary.

They are tough yet delicate, beautiful, multi purpose, and each piece is carefully made to enjoy while shopping, dancing, playing, and living. Joey is self taught and has been designing her pieces for 15 years.” “This jewellery goes where you do, don’t be afraid to shine!”

Deborah McCance

Deborah creates earrings, pendants, bracelets and rings in sterling silver, yellow bronze, brass and copper.

Deborah has her BFA from the Alberta College of Art and Design with a major in jewellery and metalsmithing. Her pieces are exquisite; contemporary yet classic. “I love drawing with black ink on paper, creating obsessive designs. I take line drawing into metal through the use of wire, casting, etching and precious metal clay resulting in distinctive creations.”

Marianne & Leanne Mac Donald

Unique, fun, creative jewellery.

A mother and daughter team from Calgary and Vernon B.C. Mature classics meet young and funky. Marianne and Leanne use high quality natural stones, metal chains, glass beads and charms for their creations. “Our goal is for our designs to be treasured and admired for years to come.”

Melissa Pedersen

Working in a variety of materials, Melissa’s favourites include silver, gold, gemstones and pearls. Melissa graduated from the Alberta College of Art and design in 2009.

“It is the garden that I find inspiration, especially in the spring. By capturing different elements of nature and using them in my jewellery I am able to preserve and treasure what may only be here for a fleeting moment.”

Susan Stevens

Susan designs one of a kind necklaces, bracelets and earrings.

Using a combination of semi-precious stones, pearls, Swarovski crystals, precious metals and lampwork beads. She also incorporates vintage beads from the 1940‘and 50 have to add a bit of glamour. “I name every bracelet and necklace I make after a song.”

Glass- fused and blown

Rachel Collins

Fused glass jewellery, bowls, plates and coasters.

Rachel is a glass artist who produces contemporary fused glass work. You are sure to find that special piece for a gift, or perhaps a treasure for your home. “My work is kiln formed in my home studio and carefully produced for artistic and unique results. Some of my work includes hand painted glass paint and liquid platinum details.”

Nicole Tremblay

An amazing array of blown glass!

Nicole will bring to BEYOND her functional vases, bowls, glasses, perfume bottles, wine stoppers, sculpted ornaments, fruit, penguins, snowmen, birds, fish, and blown glass friendship balls and Christmas tree ornaments. Wow! Nicole works mainly with hot glass, blown and sculpted. She graduated from ACAD in 1998 and has pursued her art ever since.

Beth Coulas

Silk paintings and art cards.

Beth is a fine arts graduate, adapt in the art of silk painting, as well as paper sculpture. Beth draws on paper then transfers the work to pure white silk. A black line is then painted on. The work is then steamed, mounted and framed. “I have been a professional floral designer, which has had great influence on my silk painting. My love of nature and my natural surroundings are captured in much of my work.”

Beverly Farley

Bev works in oils, acrylics, charcoal, watercolours, and oil stick.

She studied at McGill, Ecole des Beaux-Arts, as well as tutelage with one of Lismer’s protégées. “I am fascinated by colour and form: by what happens when you pour, mix, and layer paint. Contemporary would be the closest description on my art and I hope my pieces make the viewer think, or at least dream.”

Charlotte Hegler

Charlotte’s acrylic paintings are an eclectic mix from vivid and contemporary landscape to wildlife art. Also, her passion for cycling produces fabulous cycling pictures. With Charlotte you enjoy some wine, walk down a treed line path or visit the mountains. Each brushstroke offers a dramatic uniqueness to her paintings. “I learned how to see the beauty in the little things from my great grandma.”

Barb Kowalik

Paintings, prints and woven jewellery.

Barb creates original paintings, embroideries and illustrations which explore the language of myth and symbol inspired by folklore and the spirit within nature. Barb studied fabrics and metals at ACAD and Ceramics and Sculpture at the U of C. Barb combines traditional techniques with contemporary digital mediums. “My style is contemporary, iconographic, and reflects the spiritual and philosophical roots which embody universal themes.”

Judy Perrin

From bright and funky florals, to a more subdued palette in her landscapes and cityscapes, Judy captures a certain energetic mood. Judy’s work is constantly changing and diverse. Recently she is painting crows! Her love of simple and organic shape is evident in what she chooses to paint. Judy still maintains a career as an R.N. on a Hospice unit.

Alison Philpotts

Alison is a local artist who specializes in landscape painting. Her inspiration comes from the Western Provinces. Alison works in oil on canvass, and her love of colour brings to life her beautiful landscapes. Alison’s paintings grace the walls of many homes, adding warmth, beauty and colour.

Piroska Pipo

Piroska paints portraits, people and scenic pictures.

Although she experiments with many mediums, her favourites are pastel chalks and acrylics mixed with gel mediums. Piroska gives art classes to children. Her work is inspired by all the people she meets, and the places she travels to. “I love Johnston Canyon, a place where no matter where you turn there is a picture.”

Kelly Grant

Kelly, is a contemporary, abstract artist.

She is self taught with an incredible passion and deep desire to create, on canvass, a direct expression of the unconscious. “Since my first piece, my love and gratitude for the gift of painting continues to grow. While working with oil remains my favourite, I dabble in acrylics and other mediums.” Kelly likens her strong urge to paint “as to a pregnant woman looking for a bathroom- look out of my way.” “I may stay within the lines when I colour, but when I paint, I prefer to go Over the Edge.”

Julie Witten-Land

Julie is an Industrial Designer. Her aesthetically innovative art includes her Jalopy collection which is “a unique photographed series of colors and cars in unexpected views, mounted on hand made rusted steel boxes. Each piece is constructed one at a time, making no two alike.” Julie suggests you curate a collection of these for a striking feature wall, or place on a shelf for a statement on its own. “I enjoy making things that simply enliven others. I am most grateful with my creativity when I am sharing it.”

Wildlife/bird Photography on Paper and Canvas

Seeking out wildlife has become a growing passion that consumes many of Bob & Candy’s leisure moments with camera in tow. Most of their uniquely colorful images are captured within or around the Calgary area which highlights the rich concentration of wildlife found right at our doorstep. Digital images are transferred to both paper and canvas to remind the viewer that we are stewards of a wondrous natural world that is furry, feathered and fragile…let’s tread softly.

Faye Reineberg

Holt Regional History & General Interest Books for Adults

Faye has published 10 nonfiction books based on Western Canada's past. As well, she co-authored a travel book for the AMA and has published poems, articles and short stories. Editor of three books, she been a writer-in-residence and offered readings & writing workshops for colleges, writers’ groups, schools, libraries and museums. She is a member of many regional and national writiers’ groups.

Shirlee Smith Matheson

Regional History & Aviation Books for Adults & Fiction for Youth

Shirlee has published 14 books for adults and children. Her work as Administrative Officer for the Aero Space Museum of Calgary complements her writing since 8 of her books focus on Canadian aviation adventures. She gives readings and writing workshops in schools, libraries and at writing conferences. A member of regional and national writiers’ groups, she has also served as writer-in-residence at schools.

Terri creates custom designed, hand crafted, personalized chipboard scrapbooks and greeting cards. On The Side, (who is Terri), will create for you a truly unique, one of a kind keepsake that you will always treasure. Terri is busy mother of three, with a passion for scrapbooking, and an entrepreneurial spirit. Think wedding, new baby, family, birthdays and any and all special occasions.

Sam Hester & Tamara Hamilton

Original Artwork on baby clothes. BEYOND is very excited to be the first venue for Guinea Piglet. These two sisters-in-laws have started Guinea Piglet a company which creates and sells baby clothes decorated with original, one-of-a kind artwork. Sam is the artist having had her Indy comics and paintings in a vast array of exhibitions and publications. At BEYOND, they will have garments on sale and blank garments ready for decoration on site. Sam will create the artwork; the garment is then heat pressed and ready to go. How fun is that!

Jill Garcia

Shawls, scarves & throws. Alpaca, silk and pima cotton.

Jill travels to Peru. She selects hand woven shawls, scarves and throws, which are hand loomed by woman weavers. The weavers receive fair wages and work under good conditions. “Shawls and scarves add to every outfit. What a bonus to know you are wearing something hand made and of benefit to woman in Peru.” These exquisite pieces are exclusive to BEYOND and can not be found at any other market in Calgary.

Judy Robertson & Debra Turcott

Chair Booties.

So what is a chair bootie? Deb and Judy have designed and sew booties to go on the bottom of chairs to protect the floor from being scratched. They use decorative, yet functional and washable fabric. “Our booties can be custom made to match a person’s décor and we will also use the customer’s fabric to sew them.”

Lorraine & Melanie Luyten

Purses, aprons, & jewellery.

Lorraine and Melanie are a mother and daughter team. Their purses are made from cottons, felted wools, recycled sweaters, velvets, and silks. Fun, funky and very useful aprons are sewn by Melanie who is a perfectionist. Lorraine is more free form; she creates the bead weaving and sews the purses. Melanie works with wire and gemstones. A talented duo!

Mahira Murad

A fibre artist

“I work with silk only and make neckties, silk wraps and accessories for men and women. I use an ancient Japanese resist technique called Shibori.” Mahira graduated from Moore college of Art and Design in Philadelphia with a BFA majoring in textile design. She taught a textile design course at the University of Saskatchewan continuing education and taught Art at ar Art college and school overseas. She also is a hand weaver and creates woolen and cotton scarves. A gift of one of Mahira’s exquisite design will be treasured always.

BEYOND is delighted to have Steve join us for his first show and sale. Steve is a man with a passion and that is the art of wood. Steve produces work that reflects his talent and technical grace. His turnings begin with raw, unprocessed woods chosen for their unique and characteristic grains, burls, mineral deposits and even fungus. His materials and finishes are environmentally friendly. All of the wood comes from responsibly managed forests as well as trees collected from local arborists. “If you listen, the wood speaks.” Treat yourself, come see these beautiful pieces.
